Barry Lees15 Feb 2023 - 14:48

Chairman of the Vale of Lune RUFC

Andy Perry. a.k.a. Morse.

Born 1952. Retired Police Inspector (among other things.)

Andy was appointed as Chairman in 2022, having previously held the post c.2002. As a player, he was usually selected in the second row. His rugby pedigree dates back to Blackpool Grammar School and includes spells at Old Rochdalians/Littleborough and Lancashire Police before moving to Morecambe. His first game for the Vale was in Feb 1977 for the Vikings. His last appearance was on a tour of Canada in the 1980's. His best rugby experiences were on tours, meeting new people and visiting new countries.

Daftest rugby moment: 'In the middle of winter on a very rainy day with my head in the mud at the bottom of a ruck and the opposition second row (who I knew well) started singing Brahms’ Lullaby in my ear.'
Preferred legacy: - “He’ll never be brilliant but he’s reliable and he tries”
Favourite Rugby Song: - (1) Totally inappropriate nowadays, (2) Any singalong on tour or a Hong Kong Sevens

Advice for younger self: - (1) If an opportunity comes along – take it. You never know if or when it will come again. (2) Be different.
