Andy Perry. a.k.a. Morse.
Born 1952. Retired Police Inspector (among other things.)
Andy was appointed as Chairman in 2022, having previously held the post c.2002. As a player, he was usually selected in the second row. His rugby pedigree dates back to Blackpool Grammar School and includes spells at Old Rochdalians/Littleborough and Lancashire Police before moving to Morecambe. His first game for the Vale was in Feb 1977 for the Vikings. His last appearance was on a tour of Canada in the 1980's. His best rugby experiences were on tours, meeting new people and visiting new countries.
Daftest rugby moment: 'In the middle of winter on a very rainy day with my head in the mud at the bottom of a ruck and the opposition second row (who I knew well) started singing Brahms’ Lullaby in my ear.'
Preferred legacy: - “He’ll never be brilliant but he’s reliable and he tries”
Favourite Rugby Song: - (1) Totally inappropriate nowadays, (2) Any singalong on tour or a Hong Kong Sevens
Advice for younger self: - (1) If an opportunity comes along – take it. You never know if or when it will come again. (2) Be different.
