Heysham Atoms, who have been using the facilities at Vale of Lune for the past two seasons, have finally achieved their long term aim and found a home of their own. This means that the arrangement between the two codes will come to an agreed conclusion at the end of October. Though the agreement for Heysham Atoms to use the Powder House Lane facilities still had time to run, it was becoming obvious that the sheer number of participants in both sports was starting to overwhelm the site and this move will be to the benefit of all playing members of both clubs. The arrangement was always going to be temporary and Atoms have successfully negotiated new facilities earlier than anticipated.

Heysham Atoms are moving to King George’s playing fields off Westgate, Morecambe in a ground share agreement with Westgate Wanderers FC which will see them have a long term lease from Lancaster City Council and somewhere they can finally call ‘home’.

Both rugby code teams, in their own way, give a great community provision, delivering sporting opportunities to a large number of men, women, boys and girls in the North Lancashire area and beyond.

We have been pleased to have been able to share our club with Heysham Atoms during their ‘homeless’ period and the best wishes of all club members go to them in their new venture
